As General Counsel for Five Star Franchising, Matt oversees corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and contract administration across the company's various franchise lines. He brought with him extensive legal experience upon joining the company, having spent seven years working both as outside counsel and in-house across various industries. Matt’s experience spans litigation, real estate, corporate law, civil disputes, insurance representation, corporate counseling, dispute resolution, risk management, and regulatory compliance. His role involves managing and litigating civil disputes, negotiating settlements, conducting probative discovery, and engaging in successful motions practice. He is proficient in legal research and writing, appellate practice, and providing legal consultation to individuals and business entities.

Additionally, Matt is responsible for keeping abreast of legal developments to ensure that company policies and procedures remain compliant with current laws and effectively manage risk. He holds a bachelor's degree in history from Brigham Young University and a juris doctor from Washington and Lee University School of Law.
