About Michael B. Miller

Michael B. Miller is an international lawyer focusing on business contracts, acquisitions, and start-ups. He began his legal career in mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and intellectual property at Willkie Farr & Gallagher in New York and Skadden Arps in Los Angeles. Michael was involved in major corporate transactions, including the takeovers of E.F. Hutton, Federated and Allied Stores, and R.J.R Nabisco, along with corporate finance deals for Drexel Lambert and Mike Milken.

In 2008, Michael transitioned into investment management, becoming Managing Director of Bel Air Investment Advisers, overseeing $5 billion for celebrities, high-net-worth families, and foundations. He later joined Northern Trust, managing the $2.5 billion Wealth Advisory Group, including banking and trust services.

After retiring from the financial world in 2016, Michael focused on select legal and business projects, mentoring young entrepreneurs through Miller Law. As a cannabis legalization expert, he launched CannaBusiness, a podcast covering the cannabis industry’s business and legal issues, and became the first Cannabis Editor and Associate Publisher for LA Weekly. His articles have been featured in various outlets like Benzinga, LA Weekly, and Yahoo News.

Michael is also an author. His children’s book, The Gift, was published in 2018, and during the pandemic, he expanded his legal practice while writing Addicted: Drugs and the Unwon War to Stop Them, blending drug history and U.S. policy with global cannabis industry insights.

Committed to philanthropy, Michael supports academic institutions, arts access, social justice, anti-bullying, and disease prevention initiatives.
