About Mara Stein

Mara Stein, a graduate of the University of Maryland Scholars Program, found her passion for law after an initial career in journalism. Driven by a desire to use her knowledge to help others, she attended American University Washington College of Law and became a licensed attorney in Maryland in 2009. In 2012, she founded Stein Legal LLC, a firm focused on advocating for underrepresented individuals and fostering a diverse and balanced work environment.

At Stein Legal LLC, Mara has led successful efforts in immigration and family law, including helping children achieve Special Immigrant Juvenile status and guiding clients through complex removal proceedings. In family law, her work has supported parents in securing child custody and financial settlements. Mara’s leadership has been instrumental in achieving significant legal victories, including an appeal before the Maryland Appellate Court and an asylum case reversal at the Board of Immigration Appeals.
