About Laura L. McQuesten
Laura earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business with a minor in German from Texas Tech University in 2005. During her undergraduate studies, her passion for travel led her to study abroad in Paderno del Grappa, Italy, a small village in the Veneto region. This experience marked her third visit to Italy, complementing her time as a Rotary exchange student in Germany during high school, where she explored over a dozen European countries. Between completing her bachelor's degree and law school, Laura broadened her horizons by living in Canada and New Zealand. She later pursued her legal education and obtained her Juris Doctor from Regent University School of Law in 2013.
Following law school, Laura clerked for the Superior Court of Alaska in Kotzebue, a remote town located above the Arctic Circle. She then practiced family law as an associate attorney with a well-regarded firm in Winchester, Virginia, before settling in Virginia Beach. Her legal work has primarily focused on family law. She serves as a Guardian ad litem, advocating for children in family and juvenile court matters. Laura is also a certified mediator, recognized by the Supreme Court of Virginia, which designated her as a mediator in 2017 and a mediator mentor in 2023 to support the training of new mediators.
Laura is an active member of the Virginia State Bar, Virginia Beach Bar Association, and Virginia Bar Association. She has received numerous accolades, including recognition as one of the Top 40 Under 40 by The National Trial Lawyers, Pro Bono Hero by the Virginia State Bar, and inclusion in *Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch* and *Rising Stars* by Super Lawyers.
Beyond her legal practice, Laura serves on the board of directors for Virginia Beach Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to training and supporting volunteers who advocate for abused and neglected children.
