About Louisa Schlieben

Louisa Schlieben provides solutions-oriented representation to clients facing divorce, custody, spousal support, property division, child support, domestic violence, and child abuse disputes. Her direct, no-nonsense approach stems from her work as a public defender, which included internships with the Innocence Project, the Alaska Public Defender Agency, and the Legal Aid Society in New York City. After earning her J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law on a full academic scholarship, she served as a deputy public defender in Denver, representing hundreds of clients and participating in over a dozen jury trials within her first year of practice.

Over the last decade, Louisa has handled complex family law matters, from high-asset divorces and unconventional support calculations to international abductions. She grew up in Harlem, trained extensively in ballet (performing with the New York City Ballet and American Ballet Theater), and worked full time to pay her way through Hunter College (C.U.N.Y.) while graduating Cum Laude. A Cardozo Merit Scholar and Symposium Editor of the Cardozo Public Law, Policy, and Ethics Journal, she is a member of the Colorado Bar Association (including its Family Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution Sections) and Colorado Collaborative Divorce Practitioners. Drawing on her own life experiences, Louisa is dedicated to open communication, a judgment-free environment, and putting children first.
