Partner Wrix McIlvaine has nearly two decades of experience advocating for clients in trial and appellate courts throughout Georgia. He maintains a prominent criminal defense practice and regularly takes on challenging, high-profile matters in both State and Federal Courts. Recognized as a Georgia Super Lawyer, he is consistently named among the Top 100 trial lawyers in America and as a Top Ten Criminal Defense Attorney by the American Association of Attorney Advocates.

McIlvaine is a zealous defender of citizens’ rights and civil liberties under the United States Constitution, and is one of the few attorneys in Southeast Georgia handling civil rights litigation under 42 U.S.C. § 1983. His trial and appellate work also includes representing individuals who have been seriously injured by medical malpractice, police misconduct, governmental abuse, and corporate malfeasance.

A firm believer in providing representation to indigent and underprivileged communities, McIlvaine served as a supervising trial attorney for the Georgia Public Defender Standards Council and is a longstanding member of the Criminal Justice Act panel for the Southern District of Georgia. He has also served as a conflict panel attorney in counties throughout Southeast Georgia for more than a decade and has volunteered with Georgia Legal Services and Georgia Lawyers for the Arts.

McIlvaine earned his undergraduate degree in journalism from the University of Delaware in 2002. He received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2005 and subsequently graduated from the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center in 2006, earning a Master of Laws degree from the University of Augsburg and George Washington University.

He is a member of the Brunswick Exchange Club, Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church, and serves as both a Committee Member and Den Leader in scouting.
