Douglas Jones was born in 1955 in Youngstown, Ohio. After graduating summa cum laude from Oral Roberts University in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts in Ancient Literature, he earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Akron School of Law in 1980. That same year, he was admitted to practice law in Ohio, followed by admission to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio in 1981.
