About Osvaldo Fumo
Osvaldo Fumo relocated to Las Vegas in 1975 and graduated from Bishop Gorman High School in 1983. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of San Diego in 1987 and received his law degree from Whittier College School of Law in December 1995. He is licensed to practice in Nevada, in the United States District Court for Nevada, and in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Fumo holds an AV rating with Martindale Hubbell—the highest recognition for ethical standards and legal ability—and is listed in both the Super Lawyers Directory and Best Lawyers. He has served two terms in the Nevada Legislature, including a term in the Nevada State Assembly from 2016 through 2020, and received the Nevada State Bar’s Access to Justice Award in 2006. As a life member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and a course instructor for the American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys, his work has earned significant peer recognition. In 2019, he was honored as Defender of the Year by the Nevada Attorneys for Criminal Justice and as Consumer Advocate of the Year by the Nevada Justice Association.
As an Adjunct Professor of Law at Boyd School of Law, Fumo teaches Trial Advocacy, Pretrial Criminal Litigation, Voir Dire and the techniques for opening statements and closing arguments; in 2021, he was named Adjunct Professor of the Year. In 2025 he was awarded the Silver Advocate Award from the Public Interest Law Association PILA, at Boyd Law School. He is also a Fellow in Litigation Counsel of America, an invitation-only honorary society that acknowledges a select group of trial lawyers committed to advancing ethical advocacy and continuous professional development.
He is one of a handful of attorneys who are Death Penalty Qualified in Nevada.
