About Rick Davis

Rick Davis graduated from Texas A&M University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. During his ten years in the Texas Army National Guard, he rose to command an M-1 Tank Company as a First Lieutenant. While serving, he also worked at NASA, contributing to both the Space Shuttle and Space Station Programs. He received the McDonnell Douglas General Manager’s Award for his role on STS-37, the first post-Challenger mission to include extravehicular activities.

While juggling military service, family responsibilities, and an engineering career, Davis attended the University of Houston–Bates Law Center. He earned his law degree and license in May 1992, joined a prominent Bryan law firm, and then opened his own practice in 1995. In 1998, he was elected Judge of Brazos County Court at Law No. 2, later winning election to the 272nd District Court. Known for high energy and thoughtful decision-making, he ranked first among District Judges in a 2006 Brazos County Bar Association poll before returning to private practice.

Drawing on experience from both sides of the bench, Davis brings an analytical approach to resolving complex legal issues. He is widely recognized for integrity and fairness, qualities also reflected in his 2007 book, “The Prison Sermons,” offering hope to inmates, their families, and friends.
